Baby Development at 9 Months Old: Charlie’s Monthly Update
I cannot believe we are at the 9-month update! It doesn’t seem a moment ago since he was born, yet he feels like he has been with us forever! After writing his 8-month update, Charlie has been developing non-stop!
We are literally hanging on to his 6-9-month-old clothes by a thread (no pun intended!). His baby vest sleeves keep rolling down past his elbows & it’s getting hard work to stretch the poppers over his nappy! We will definitely be in the next size up by the time I write his 10-month update.
Again, not a lot to report here! No teeth still. Still short fluffy hair. Big blue eyes!
Charlie can officially crawl like a pro. Now he knows how to do it, there’s no stopping him. He is also practising his pulling up to stand skill over & over & is becoming very adept at it. He has also started proper baby babble talk. He loves saying, “bah, bah” & “ma, ma” which I like to think is Mama, but probably not!
Likes & Dislikes
Crawling & standing! If he can practise these skills he is more than happy. I find I can actually do things around the house & work on my blog a bit more now as he isn’t totally reliant on me anymore. Also… he has now decided he doesn’t mind museli after refusing to eat it previously! But it has to be the Organix strawberry one. Nothing else will do. Dislikes wise he now hates being confined in anything like a car seat or pushchair as it means he can’t crawl. I find this stage quite frustrating as you can’t just let them crawl around shops etc. I then wish he could walk but will no doubt regret saying this when I’m chasing him down streets!
He’s a little sweetie, such a happy boy who only moans when he wants milk or food or if Sophie drops something on his head. He laughs out loud when anyone tickles him or claps their hands.
Charlie is still enjoying 3 meals a day with bottles of milk in between. He has tried a large variety of foods & is thriving on his vegetarian diet. Of course, his favourite part of meal time is pudding as he is a big fruit fan. We have been buying loads of the Heinz dessert pots as they seem to be on offer & he loves the different custard flavours. His favourite savoury meal is spaghetti bolognese.
So we aren’t sleeping through yet… but he is doing OK. Sort of. Well, maybe not. I am wondering if there is some sort of sleep regression going on as we have good nights & then awful nights. On the bad nights, he keeps waking up crying & not settling. He still wants a full bottle at some point in the night which I find hard as Sophie was sleeping through without by this point. I guess it will just be a waiting game as when I try & give him water instead of milk he is NOT impressed & just screams for longer.
What We Have Been Up To
This month has been a lovely month (apart from the cold we all had which was horrid) as we went to Butlins for the week! The kids had an absolute ball. Sophie met all her favourite characters & saw Justin Fletcher live. Charlie discovered shiny pom poms which I think I will be buying him for Christmas as I have never seen him so obsessed with anything! We also have been playing lots of Halloween themed activities & attended a Big Fish Little Fish rave which the kids loved. Pumpkin carving has been a big hit this month & Charlie loved exploring all the yucky innards.
Now that Charlie is on the move, Sophie is much happier & they are always playing together. If he isn’t awake in the morning, she will go in & wake him up much to my horror. I can’t really stop her though as I’m asleep & then it’s too late! Sophie loves feeding Charlie his bottles & is encouraging him to clap & wave. Their bond is just gorgeous.
So that’s it for Charlie’s baby development at 9 months update. Look out for our 10-month update in a few weeks time!
