The Big Garden Birdwatch 2018
27th – 29th January 2018
The Big Garden Birdwatch 2018 takes just an hour & although your child won’t recognise all the birds visiting your garden, they’ll love joining in & looking out for any movement from a bird visitor (or mammal).
You can download your pack here. This includes a checklist, calendar & other information.
It’s a great way to get in touch with the wildlife in your garden, local park or green space & help conservation & research.
Big Garden Birdwatch Related Activities
We came up with some fun activities you can do with your child as part of the Big Garden Birdwatch 2018 celebrations.
1. Mr & Mrs Blackbird Jigsaw
You are very likely to spot a male &/or female blackbird during your birdwatching. We’ve made a simple Mr & Mrs Blackbird template for you to print, cut-out & make with your little one/s to add to the fun. Use them as a simple jigsaw or glue together & make a mobile, badge or just stick on the window!
2. Make a Bird Feeder
Make a recycled bird feeder using just a plastic bottle, string & a twig!
3. DIY Binoculars
Perfect for pretend play, these simple cardboard tube binoculars were made using 2 cardboard tubes, glue & string.
