Bonding With Your Child: It’s A Mother-Daughter Thing
Everyone talks about the bond between a father and a son. The sports games they can go together. Daddy teaching his little boy how to throw a ball and one day, teaching his teen son how to fix cars. You don’t see very many articles about the way that mothers and daughters’ bond; at least, you don’t when they’re little. It’s always harder for a mother to find the time to get down to the level of her daughter and just be present in her moments; life gets busy, and in the way, and there’s always something else that could be being done. However, if you take the time to see your daughter for the miracle that she is, you can create a bond that is so cemented that she will never see you as anything but a goddess in her world.
As her mother, all she will ever want to do is to please you and to make you proud of her. Finding the time to spend just with your daughter is so precious, and with these tips below, you can build a strong bond filled with laughter, love and mutual respect.
Build. Young girls love to play make believe, whether that’s building a Lego pony set or putting together a doll’s house with the best dolls house furniture. Rearranging the rooms, painting the little wooden chairs and even stitching together miniature blankets for the beds are an excellent way to get into her mind, her world. To see the world as she sees it and join her in make believe? Priceless to your relationship.
Read. Teaching your child to read is like teaching a baby to talk; impossibly frustrating sometimes! However, sitting together somewhere comfortable with a book of her choice is going to help you to laugh together, to discuss and to find restful space together.
Shop. Older girls being a lady that lunches with her mother always appreciate the value of things. Your daughter wants your opinions and she wants to spend time with you. Let her feel grown up and appreciated by getting her into one of your shopping trips. Take her to afternoon tea and ask for her opinion on the things you need to buy; she will feel so close to you, knowing that you value what she has to say.
Sleepover. Every now and then, climbing into her bed with junk snacks and a movie can be the best fun! You can really get the giggles and share secrets, making her feel like you’re more than just a parent; you’re fun, too!
Daughters always grow up and need their mothers the most in the biggest times of their lives. It’s important to let her know that you’re there for her in the moments now so that she will want you in the moments later. Your bond needs nurturing as early as possible so that you still feel it as she grows up. Who wouldn’t want to love their little girl as hard as they can?
