Baby Development at 10 Months Old: Charlie’s Monthly Update
Here we are again, another update post about little Charlie! We are now at the 10-month update – edging ever closer to his first birthday! After writing Charlie’s 9-month update, we’ve had some new developments & skills learnt.
As predicted, we are now in the next size set of clothing. I’ve sorted out Charlie’s pile of 9-12 month clothes & it is safe to say they are all pretty enormous on him, but it’s better than jamming him into his old lot of clothes! I can’t believe how big he is now – it’s incredible how much they grow in such a short period of time.
BIG NEWS – we have two teeth! After a night of absolutely no sleep, a stuffy nose & lots of crying Charlie woke up with two bottom teeth. I was so glad both came at once so we only had one bad night. Now to prepare myself for the next load…
Charlie’s physical development is coming on leaps & bounds. He is now cruising along furniture & can throw himself between two close items when standing. His crawling is super speedy & he can go almost as fast as Sophie when he wants to. He is still practising lots of babbling sounds & his fine motor skills are showing definite improvement. He can pick up small items like peas & raisins to eat &, my favourite, is that he has started to wave. He knows to wave when we say “hello” & “bye” too which is really cute.
Likes & Dislikes
The dishwasher. He is totally obsessed with the dishwasher. He can hear me opening it from two rooms away & comes crawling in at lightning speed. He then proceeds to fight with me to get in it. In fact, if I lose sight of him for a moment, I will often find him sitting in it in a puddle of water. He has also found a love for the Teletubbies, Twirly Woos & Mr Tumble. I feel like I have gone back in time to when Sophie was this age. In terms of dislikes, he decided to throw his scrambled egg all over the floor when trying it for the first time. It seems both my children have a complete aversion to eggs no matter how I cook or present them.
As Charlie is getting older, he really is turning into a gorgeous little boy. He is still so happy (apart from when teething) & just loves to laugh. He finds lots of things funny & is also very affectionate. He loves cuddles & basically any attention he can get, especially from mummy (he is definitely a mummy’s boy!).
Charlie is still a fantastic eater. He did have a nasty cold at one point which made him eat a little less, but not for long! He is slowly trying some trickier foods to eat independently such as small peas & sweetcorn. He loves the challenge of trying to pick them up. He will also drink water quite happily – something Sophie would never do (& still won’t!).
Still not sleeping through. I literally cannot wait for the day where I can write that he is. It’s not too bad – he is just a lot hungrier than Sophie & still wants his milk in the night. If we time it right, I can sometimes get away with not waking up to feed him as daddy stays up later than I do. Other times, it’s a 4 am wake up call which then ends up being me, unfortunately. He isn’t too bad at rolling over & going back to sleep though.
What We Have Been Up To
A fairly quiet month this month. As the cold weather has been setting in, we have been hunkered down & just getting on with the daily routine of nursery drop offs & general life! We’ve enjoyed some nice walks in our local park to see the season changes & have been doing some lovely outdoor activities thanks to Mud & Bloom. One of our favourite activities was going on a fungi hunt! Charlie has spent the month sporting a lovely black eye that he got from banging his head whilst trying to balance against a cupboard.
Charlie & Sophie are still getting on incredibly well & they are both delighted that they can now make some attempts at playing together. They enjoy chasing each other around the house & Sophie loves pushing him along in his ride on car. She also likes to read his story books to him which he will sit & listen to with wonder. They are totally smitten with each other – long may it last!
So that’s it for Charlie’s baby development at 10 months update. Look out for our 11-month update in a few weeks time!
