Christmas Memories: My Mother is a Christmas Elf Book
As I am writing this there are exactly 33 days, 12 hours & 17 minutes until Christmas. Not that I’m counting…
I have always loved Christmas & can clearly remember the enchantment of it when I was a child. Not being able to sleep whilst waiting for Santa. Coming downstairs in the morning & seeing the beautifully wrapped gifts under the glistening tree. Christmas music softly playing in the background. I have so many wonderful Christmas memories. Sadly, as you get a bit older some of the magic dwindles away. However, now that I have two young children to share Christmas with, a lot of that excitement has returned. Also, it will be Charlie’s first Christmas this year as well, which means I have an excuse to buy all of the baby’s first Christmas outfits & decorations!
My Mother is a Christmas Elf
As always, I have been sharing plenty of Christmas posts on the blog this year & here is another one all about a Christmas book I received last week. I am a massive fan of children’s Christmas books & always look forward to getting them out of the loft to share with the kids. I love adding to my collection each year so was pretty pleased to receive this one titled “My Mother is a Christmas Elf”.
Written by Chantelle Otto Joy, the book is based on the author’s childhood memories surrounding Christmas. It is quite clear that her mum seriously loved Christmas & put a lot of time & effort into making sure her daughter had a magical experience each year. In fact, she did such a good job of this that her daughter became convinced that her mum was indeed a Christmas Elf.
In Chantelle’s words…
“I am a Christmas nut, maybe the biggest Christmas fan you’ve ever met. I joined a Forum on AllThingsChristmas.com over a decade ago and when I was given the chance to take over the site I was so excited. I’ve been working every winter nearly full-time on the site to make it the best, most fun and festive Christmas destination online.
Last year, I decided to self-publish the story of my childhood Christmas Memories – as a gift to my own Christmas-obsessed mother. This book is that gift. I want to share the joy and happiness that Christmas brings to everyone.”
My Mother is a Christmas Elf is a lovely heartwarming story to share with young children. The colourful illustrations & rhymes make it appealing for little readers & my daughter enjoyed listening to some of the different traditions people do in the run-up to Christmas. It has inspired her to want to bake Christmas cookies & make her own tree decorations. It really is a lovely addition to a child’s Christmas book collection. For adults, it is a sweet reminder that we don’t need to have a lot to make our Christmases special.
